Baggy Blues Cricket Tour
The Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP) partnered with the NSW Baggy Blues to bring attention and a new focus to the importance of mental health and wellbeing in rural and remote communities in New South Wales.
RAMHP and the Baggy Blues delivered a cricket tour to four communities across rural NSW, including:
- Lismore: October 25 2018- Cricket match: FNC Country vs. FNC Coasties
November 21 2018- Sportsman’s Dinner
November 22 2018- ‘Smashing Stigma for Six’ mental health breakfast
November 22 2018- T20 cricket match: Dubbo XI vs. Macquarie Invitational
December 3 2018- Community Support Skills: Follow up training
- Griffith: December 6 2018- 20/20 cricket match: Griffith vs. Murrumbidgee Invitational
- Bega: February 20 – 22 2019 T20 cricket match – Bega.angledale CC Vs. Tathra CC
This partnership aims to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness; increase knowledge of what mental health resources are available; and increase community spirit during these tough times.
The tours combined the influence and profile of the Baggy Blues with RAMHP’s capacity to deliver messages of the importance of mental health and wellbeing to rural communities. It’s expected that the partnership between the Baggy Blues and RAMHP providec a number of invaluable benefits to the rural and remote communities of NSW.
