RAMHP is collaborating with the Tamworth Suicide Prevention Collaborative and local community members from the town of Manilla to implement the Blue Tree Project.
This project will help to increase social connection and inclusion, which will limit the experience of loneliness and isolation for those involved. This social connection, increased awareness of local support services and collaboration will also be a protective factor in building resilience and minimising risk for future adverse events.
Manilla Central School have been involved in the project since the beginning and continue to play a key role. Led by the Industrial Arts Teacher and Wellbeing Support Teacher, the students have learnt about the Blue Tree Project, including how it came to be and the importance of talking about mental health. They have also worked to develop and paint their own ornamental Blue Trees, which will be distributed to local businesses throughout Manilla to help raise the profile of the Blue Tree and its messages.
Thank you to Manilla Central School!
The Manilla community continues to look for the perfect tree to paint so keep your eye out and reach out if you would like to get involved.
