RAMHP is collaborating with the Tamworth Suicide Prevention Collaborative and local community members from the town of Manilla to implement the Blue Tree Project.
The overarching “Blue Tree Project” started in 2018 and is now a charity organisation with over 1105 registered Blue Trees across the world. The idea behind painting trees blue is that it encourages people to have conversations around mental health, reminds people to check in with loved ones and mates who might be struggling.
This project will help to increase social connection and inclusion, which will limit the experience of loneliness and isolation for those involved. This social connection, increased awareness of local support services and collaboration will also be a protective factor in building resilience and minimising risk for the next adverse event.
A proactive approach to suicide prevention, the Blue Tree Project will leave a lasting legacy for the community of Manilla and all that pass through it.
